August 4th post

...and the countdown begins...

Elder Wright, my new comp, pointed out that I only have 3 transfers left as a missionary-that was quite the sobering reality. I've officially become an "old missionary" :P

Elder Wright is super sweet! He is from American Samoa, and moved to Utah with his family a couple of years ago. He played linebacker for Snow College, and he's a great guy to work with. We're getting along really well, and we're both excited for what this ward can become. 

This week has been pretty crazy. Elder Johnson and I didn't keep an area book because we weren't teaching anyone, and supposedly there's one in the storage unit downstairs. But we can't get to that, because one of the old Elders crashed the car through the wall of the storage unit :P The last DL didn't keep a district leader binder for like 6 months, and I've been asked to be the new DL. So we've got to put one of those together, too. We've spent a lot of time trying to get our acts/paperwork together. We're pretty much shotgunning the area, because we're both pretty new. With that in mind, we've spent a lot of time and energy to meet auxiliaries, spend time with new members, and put together the necessities of missionary paperwork. We're putting a huge focus on building relationships with the auxiliaries, and we're already seeing it pay off. We have received an almost-referral from our Bishop, and we're working on garnering assignments from the other auxiliaries.

Our ESPN tour last week was awesome! We got to go onto a lot of sets from shows that I watched all the time back home. We were eating lunch, and Adam Schefter was behind us in line, using two phones to take care of all his business. We also saw Andy Katz, and that was awesome! There are so many members of the ward that work at ESPN, we could definitely do it again (and maybe my camera won't be dead next time :P)
